SBK | GP Balaton Park: finishing third in the Superpole Race, Lorenzo Baldassarri rounded off an excellent weekend with fourth place in Race 2 and remains in contention in the standings

Already blisteringly fast in qualifying, Lorenzo Baldassarri enjoyed a successful weekend at Balaton Park, a highly technical circuit characterised by sudden braking and acceleration, which place particular demands on tight cornering and put the bike’s chassis under strain. Cutting to the chase, the GoEleven rider improved his lap time with every session, setting the second-fastest time in Superpole. A result that speaks for itself regarding the excellent work carried out by the team and the rider himself, who in recent weeks has recovered from physical pain that had compromised his performance.
In Race 1, he suffered a slight delay at the first corner, forcing him to mount a rapid comeback. This strategy was not completed due to a spectacular crash, which significantly damaged the bike but caused no physical harm to the rider.
Once the Ducati Panigale V4R had been repaired, Lorenzo made a strong start in the Superpole Race, which was unfortunately halted on the first lap by a red flag following a crash. At the restart, he put in a top-class performance, yielding only to the factory Ducatis and securing a superb third place, which, compared to qualifying, was in line with expectations.
Getting off to a better start in Race 2, “Balda” battled hard against a group of riders threatening the podium positions. Having shaken off his most aggressive rivals, he put in increasingly faster laps, finishing the race on an upward trajectory. A fourth-place finish, which, added to the morning’s podium, is worth twenty precious points, sees him move up the overall standings to eighth place, just a stone’s throw from third.
