SBK | GP Misano: The Superbike World Championship comes to Romagna, Lorenzo Baldassarri’s home race

The seventh round of the Superbike World Championship, scheduled for 12-14 June, takes us into the heart of the championship, kicking off the second half of the season at Misano – a historic fixture on the World Superbike calendar and a home race for Lorenzo Baldassarri. Following last month’s tests, the rider from the Marche region, alongside the GoEleven team, returns to the Romagna circuit determined to make amends for the disappointing weekend at Motorland Aragón, where the results failed to reflect the high level of competitiveness shown on track.

It will be a hot weekend, not only because of the summer temperatures, but also due to the presence of many fans of Lorenzo and Ducati, who will fill the Misano World Circuit for three days. The round represents an opportunity to try and achieve something significant in front of the fans.

«This weekend we’re finally racing at our home circuit, where we’ve already tested before Aragón. I can’t wait, because Misano has a unique atmosphere, the fans will be there – including the Balda Fan Club – and it’s a track I really like. In testing I struggled to find the pace and I’m keen to get the race weekend underway to see how this round – which is special to me – will go. After the race in Spain we need to bounce back, as on Sunday at Aragón we were quick in all conditions, but because of what happened, we weren’t able to bring home the result. I’m excited, fired up and I want to put on a show.»

Lorenzo Baldassarri

Currently sixth in the overall standings, Baldassarri has the chance to boost his points tally at Misano, aiming to score points in both races and the Superpole Race. His best result on this track in the production-based category is a double second place in Supersport achieved in 2022. Here, the “yellow” Ducati Panigale V4R has completed a considerable number of laps, allowing the team to gather sufficient data on tyres and set-ups for every situation. It will be crucial to understand how to adapt the bike to the scorching temperatures forecast, but the team is convinced that, with the right moves and a bit more luck, Lorenzo can compete as a front-runner.
